Constructed in 1892, the Romanesque Revival-style Savannah Waterworks Pump House has remained under continuous ownership by the City of Savannah. GEL Engineering engaged Ethos Preservation to serve as the historic preservation consultant for the building’s rehabilitation. Raymond Engineering is serving as architect. The project is ongoing.

Ethos Preservation reviews project drawings, specifications, and material selections to ensure compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and established preservation best practices. The City is also actively pursuing historic tax credits for the project. Given the building’s architectural significance and the high-profile nature of the rehabilitation, Ethos Preservation’s involvement helps guide appropriate treatment decisions, protect the building’s historic integrity, and prevent actions that could jeopardize tax credit eligibility.

To date, Ethos Preservation has completed an initial review under the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and remains actively involved in the first phase of rehabilitation through ongoing material reviews, project coordination, and site visits.
